Steam Workshop Update Gives Creators More Ways to Make Money

Steam has updated Workshop to let modders make more money from their creations.

Games with the new feature enabled will let modders list their maps, items, and other creations for sale directly through Steam Workshop through "a new streamlined process."

Direct mod sales begin today with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and future titles will become available "in the coming weeks."

"We think this is a great opportunity to help support the incredible creative work being done by mod makers in the Steam Workshop," said Valve's Tom Bui, adding that user-generated content (UGC) is increasingly a "significant component" of many Steam games. Valve believes that adding financial incentives for modders will "help drive the level of UGC to new heights."

Breaking Bad Creator and Disney Team for New Jack and the Beanstalk Movie

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan is teaming up with Disney for a new Jack and the Beanstalk film, simply titled Beanstalk.

The script will be penned by Emmy award-winning Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul writer Thomas Schnauz, which will be based on a detailed outline from Gilligan, according to Deadline.

Gilligan and Mark Johnson (Breaking Bad) are on as producers, while Gilligan himself is considering directing the film as well.

Details are scarce at this time, but according to the report, the project is still very early on. Stay tuned to IGN for the latest on Gilligan and his latest project.

Warframe Sanctuary Update Arrives on PS4

Warframe's Sanctuary update comes to PlayStation 4, bringing a PvP overhaul to the console version of the free-to-play co-op space shooter, as well as a new Warframe, game mode, and quest.

The new Warframe, Chroma, boasts a mix of offensive power and squad buffs that blend elemental forces like fire, lightning, and ice on the battlefield.

Cephalon Capture is a new PvP game mode in the style of Capture the Flag, offering a limited arsenal of weapons and Warframes for competitive players.

No Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse?

X-Men: Apocalypse may not in fact feature an appearance from Channing Tatum's Gambit.

In an interview with MTV, while promoting his upcoming film Magic Mike XXL, Tatum hinted at the very real possibility of Gambit's planned solo film serving as the first time moviegoers get to see his version of the character on the silver screen. This conflicts with early reports which indicated that Gambit might debut in the Days of Future Past sequel.

"You know, I don’t know if I’m at liberty to say," Tatum said when asked about Gambit's role (or lack thereof) in X-Men: Apocalypse. "But I don’t think I want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is."

Oscar-Winning Rapper Joins Cast of Suicide Squad

Common is the latest actor to be cast in Warner Bros. Pictures' upcoming super-villain film Suicide Squad.

The award-winning rapper has since made a name for himself in the movie business, starring in the critically acclaimed Selma, earning himself an Oscar for best original song.

Warner Bros. has not yet divulged Common's role in the DC Comics film, THR reports, but it's only a matter of time before we hear more.

Tyler Perry to Play Baxter Stockman in TMNT 2

Tyler Perry has reportedly joined the cast of Paramount and Michael Bay's upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel.

According to Variety, the actor-comedian will play adversarial scientist Baxter Stockman in the film. In previous iterations of TMNT, Stockman is one of Shredder's henchmen, known for his creation of the Mousers. In some versions, the character also eventually mutates into the Fly.

Ahmed Up for Star Wars Anthology Lead Role

Riz Ahmed, seen recently in Nightcrawler, is reportedly the top choice to play the male lead in the first Star Wars Anthology film, Rogue One.

According to Variety, Ahmed "was among a group of young actors who had been meeting with

Edwards for the last month in London while the director prepped for the film." The site's sources say that Ahmed’s chemistry test with Felicity Jones, who has already been cast as the female lead, gave him the edge.

The report also indicates that Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises, Killing Them Softly) is now set to star as the main villain in the film. We had previously heard that Mendelsohn was up for a part in Rogue One, and now it sounds as if it's a done deal.
